The Certificate IV in Securityand Risk Management (SRM) is a sought after qualification. Many of us are involved in Risk management on a daily basis as we identify risks to ourselves, our families and our colleagues; whether in the home, in the car, at the shops or in the workplace. A Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management is designed to help you identify risks in the workplace and to implement risk management controls to reduce or rectify them. This qualification is based on the principles of ISO 31000:2009, providing an understanding of the risk management process with a background in business management and security operations.

Also experienced managers within the security and risk management sector may choose to formalise their experience by attaining this qualification.

Learning Outcomes

This course is relevant to people responsible for security and who require the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate the security vulnerability and assess the risks and develop cost effective security measures for their organisations.

The program is organised to provide candidates with a background in business management and security operations principles, additional knowledge and skills in more specific risk management principles. This Qualification is gained through the completion of eleven (11) core units and four (4) elective units. The alignment of the course format and content meets the specific areas of the industry in the areas of:

USSA Training provides 6 days of tutorials to support the skills and knowledge required for this Qualification.

Participants will be expected to complete all assessment tasks which include case scenario tasks, practical activities in their own time. While the time taken to complete this qualification will vary between units and individual participants the volume of learning required for a Certificate IV is typically 0.5 – 2 years.

Learning Pathway

Completion of the Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management will leave candidates only needing to complete four (4) additional unit of competency in order to be awarded a BSB40807 Certificate IV in Frontline Management.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is the process where USSA Training undertakes to recognise your existing skills, knowledge and experience regardless of how they were acquired. Recognising your current skills and knowledge in the area of Security and Risk Management may lead to a complete qualification or the issuing of a Statement of Attainment recognising those competencies.
